It was truly an amazing concert and I’m so thankful I got to go.  She’s so much more than a violinist.  She’s so BRAVE.  I went to her concert right after the Music Instrument Museum (MIM) and she proves that MIM is right, “music is the language of the soul.”  Lindsey puts her heart in what she does, you can hear and see it.  You can’t help but be inspired.  Thank You Lindsey!  #LindseyOneOfaKindBrave

Your my Angel, come and save me tonight Your my Angel, come and make it alright ~Aerosmith July 26, 2014 – Red Bull Thre3style Canadian Championships No I wasn’t one of the DJs competing, I was just there to bask in the wonderfulness of sound.  All the DJs were amazing and I’m so glad to have been part of that moment.  To all the DJs, thank you so much!  Keep dropping that needle!  To DJ C-SIK, I wish you all the best at representing Canada at the World DJ Championships! July 10, 2014 – Summertime Jamming I soaked up some of the sounds at the Richmond Night Market and came across a band to look out for in the future called the ‘Roche buds.’  All the best to John and his crew, may the gigs be plentiful and the music always sound good!

June 2014 – Vancouver International Jazz Festival It was another great year of sound at the VIJF.  I spent most of my hours working at the Sounds of Youth Stage.  I’m happy to say there’s so much amazing talent in our youth.  I really hope they continue to cultivate and discover more about their music and themselves.  Thanks to Ben the Sound Engineer for all the tips on live sound.

I was one of the many who helped put up one of the main stages for the Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

June 2014 – Silent Dance Party No really!!!  I had to try this one out myself.  They gave out wireless headphones to everyone while a DJ was jamming out.  It was weird at first dancing with other people with headphones but you get used to it.  I found myself grooving and shaking to the DJs.  Hopefully it fuels more innovation for the future! 🙂

Silent Party under Robson Street. Wireless headphones for everyone and a booming sub-woofer by the DJ table so I guess technically it wasn't silent. :)

May 20, 2014 I’m super psyched for the upcoming Vancouver Jazz Festival June 20-July 1.  I’m volunteering with the sound again this year.  Last year I did sound at the Performance Works Stage in Granville Island and was treated to so much ear candy which included Gregory Porter.  Man what a voice!  This year I’m looking forward to working at the Georgia Stage, Sounds of Youth Stage and the Loop Stage.  I can’t wait to be at the Youth stage because I know I’m going to be JAZZed out by these young kids.

January Album SpotlightWill Smith: Greatest Hit Remember when people use to rap about innocent funny stories?  Those were the days!  The first four songs bring you back to dem’ days.  I remember when songs ‘Getting Jiggy Wit It’ and ‘Miami’ were blazing the dance scene.  To this day they still bring people to the dance floor!  Were you like me and tried to imitate the dance scene in ‘Men In Black?’ 🙂  And yeah ok, I do admit that I know the lyrics to ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’.  My favorite song is the chill ‘Summertime’ tune.  I love it because it lets me “think of the summers of the past, adjust the base and let the alpine blast, pop in my CD and let me run a rhyme, and put your car on cruise and lay back cause this is Summertime.” January 1st, 2014 – Running Room Resolution Run (Richmond) Happy New Year everyone!  This is the third year I’ve done music for this 5K run.  I also led the warm-up exercise with a mash-up of songs: Pump up the Jam, Don’t Stop till you get Enough, Danza Kuduro and YMCA.  Thanks for all your smiling faces and dancing booties!  Congratulations to those that came out for the walk/run.  It was a really fun event and I hope that everyone has a great 2014!!!  Pictures to be uploaded soon. Happy Holidays!  I got three Kikkerland music boxes during Christmas and really like the way they sound.  I gave one that played “You are my Sunshine” to my girlfriend (cause she really is my Sunshine).  As a wedding DJ, I had to get the “Wedding March” song and the third is one of my all time favorites “What a Wonderful World.”  Hope you and your family have a wonderful, happy and safe holiday!  Hope all your days sound good.

December Album SpotlightLady Antebellum: On This Winter’s Night This is a great Christmas Album.  None of the songs scream out to have your full attention which is great because I feel really great Christmas music is there to enhance the Christmas vibe not take it over.  So this album works great in the background.  Just press or click play and let it do its thing.  The song selection is a great mix of standard Christmas songs.  You won’t be lulled to sleep because there are some faster pace songs as well.  The vocals are done really well.  Merry listening! 🙂 November Album SpotlightSongs for the Philippines It’s so tragic what happened in Tacloban and the surrounding towns in the Philippines.  My heart goes out to those directly affected and their families.  The wonderful memories of those lost will keep their spirit alive.  A great deal of well known artists came together to raise money by lending their songs to this album.  Different genres as well as spanning different eras made a eclectic mix of uplifting music.  To me it’s a wonderful show of love through music. November 21-24, 2013 – The Bay Richmond Centre Gala Event and Clarins Model Search with Elle Canada Super fun event!  Thanks to all my friends who stopped by to say Hi!  Special thanks to all the people who shared a little dance and got their groove on as they heard the music!!!  I live for that!  Great to be playing in my home town!  Sorry if the music was a tad loud.  I moved the location of the speakers back and higher a bit for the last three days so that it was more part of the ambiance.

October Album SpotlightStevie Wonder: The Definitive Collection When I think of Stevie Wonder, I automatically think emotion and groove.  This album is one I just play whenever and the feeling is goodness.   The song I grew up with and is still my favourite of his is “I Just Called to Say I love you.”  It just has a contagious happy nature to it.  It’s a great album packed with wonderful groovy songs. Happy Halloween everyone!  I took the picture below during the Zombie Walk in Fort Langley on October 19, 2013.  When I think of Halloween, I always think of three songs ‘Monster Mash’, ‘Scooby-Doo Theme’ and of course Micheal Jackson’s ‘THRILLER.’  I hope everyone has a happy safe Halloween filled with lots of scary fun!!!
